Your priority is walking to the Atlantic Ocean, spending most days on the beach, biking along the barrier peninsula and having straightforward Route 35 access to Lavallette, Normandy Beach and Ocean Beach.
Chadwick Beach Visiting & Lodging
Chadwick Beach and Chadwick Beach Island offer two sides of the same Jersey Shore community: Atlantic beach days on the barrier peninsula and lagoon, boating and bay life on the island. Most visitors stay in privately owned vacation homes rather than traditional hotels, making the exact property location, badge rules, parking and rental terms especially important.
Planning a Stay in Chadwick
Chadwick is primarily a residential shore community rather than a hotel-and-boardwalk resort. The classic stay is a rented cottage or shore home, with easy access to the beach, bay, bicycles, local recreation and nearby dining and shopping along Route 35.
Chadwick Beach and Chadwick Beach Island are part of Toms River Township, although many properties use a Lavallette, NJ 08735 mailing address. Visitors should use the exact rental address when checking directions, parking, beach access and local rules.
Where to Stay
Weekly shore-house rentals are the most traditional Chadwick lodging option. Available homes range from classic cottages to larger renovated or elevated houses on ocean, median and bayside blocks.
Island rentals can offer a very different experience, including lagoon frontage, docks and direct access to Barnegat Bay. Confirm dock use, watercraft rules and whether any equipment shown with the property is actually included in the rental.
Visitors who prefer a traditional room rather than an entire house can find lodging in Lavallette, including long-established inns and family-oriented motels.
Seaside Heights provides a larger concentration of motels and hotels for shorter stays, event weekends or travelers who want to combine Chadwick visits with boardwalk entertainment.
Choosing Between Chadwick Beach & Chadwick Beach Island
Your priority is bay life — lagoons, boating, fishing, crabbing, paddling, docks and evening sunsets — while remaining a short drive or bike ride from the ocean side.

Chadwick Beach Island Bridge
The Strickland Boulevard bridge is the only vehicular connection to Chadwick Beach Island. A replacement project is currently in the Final Design and right-of-way phase.
Final Design/right-of-way acquisition is scheduled for 2026 through 2028, with construction currently scheduled to begin in fall 2028.
This should not prevent visitors from considering island rentals now, but future travelers should check the project schedule when booking during the construction period because the bridge is the island's only road access.
